Foodie Behavior!

All of my diet fails begin with me not planning and missing a meal, resulting in extreme hunger. Who am I kidding, my nose and will power is no match for the wafting aroma of bacon, onions, and sausage on the grill whether or not I skipped breakfast.

A recent trip to the Venice Beach board walk rendered me helpless to the sizzle that seemed to whisper my name as I b-lined it over to the stand to place my order. Not until that first bite did my angst subside. The combination of flavors - spicy smoke wrapped in bacon garnished with grilled onions and peppers, generously dosed with mayonnaise, ketchup and mustard. Ahhh, all of that deliciousness nestled together in a white-bread hot dog bun.

Even though I savored each bite, my whole being morned as I swallowed the last one. I couldn’t believe it was over. I wanted THAT meal to rewind to do it all over again. Just buying another hot dog wouldn’t cut it. Who am I kidding, another one would have definitely hit the spot. But for not seeming too greedy, we will go with the original narrative, that bacon wrapped dog could never be duplicated, only repeated.

Somehow I managed to pull myself together to walk down the board walk and take in all the sights. It was a Saturday afternoon and the sun and people were out in full force. Tourists browsing, street performers and vendors peddling all sorts of goodies, cyclists, and athletes were all buzzing about. It was a perfect California beach day that began with my favorite street treat. Caution: the bacon wrapped hot dogs are highly addictive, but all street vendors are not created equally. If you don’t smell that sizzle in the air, keep it moving until you do!
